...On The Other Side.

A blog kept by members of the rock band House of Heroes. Let's talk about all the things we like!

House of Heroes IndieGoGo

Well guys.  We’re doing it.

After a year of figuring out our next move as a band, and weighing the pros and cons of about a thousand different directions, we’ve decided to take the “crowdfunding” plunge. And it’s pretty darn exciting!

Click HERE to find out more immediately.

We have had an internal debate as a band regarding sites like Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, Pledge Music, etc. and it’s honestly been a tough decision to journey down this road.  I can only speak for myself, but my pride got in the way of seeing the good that comes from crowdfunding. I wanted to be able to say that we did this without asking for help. I thought it felt like a cop-out, like money for nothing. The truth is, a lot (not all, and that is fine) of you actually WANT to help! You’ve expressed your desire to us that you’d like to come on board and help us fund this next project. I’d like to hope that we’ve earned a bit of your trust throughout the years of putting out music. It seems like y’all really enjoy what we do and we’d like to give you the opportunity to trust us for this go-around.

A concept album. This is where it gets really exciting for us. The End is Not the End, and Suburba could technically be considered concept albums. But they only earned that title after they were finished and we looked at the totality of what we had. This one will be different. This will be a concept album in the truest sense of the term. We’re already brainstorming ideas for the story behind this album, and it’s already begun to influence exciting musical ideas. If we were still working with a label, I think we’d be nervous and a bit frightened to journey into this territory of full on concept album. That’s nothing against labels, it’s just that they are businesses, and radio and album sales still matter when you are making a big investment in a band’s record. This is what makes the independent nature of this so exciting! Artistically, the story will dictate the music. It has to. And that’s the adventure. If the story calls for a song with 3 different sections, and no real chorus, then that’s what the song will be. If the story calls for a fast punk rock song, then punk rock it is. If the story calls for strings, then strings. If the story calls for brass, then brass. This will be an extremely fun and challenging record to live inside of, and we have confidence and hope that we will emerge with greatness.

Thanks to everyone who has journeyed with us so far. In a lot of ways, we are really hoping that this is just the beginning.

God bless you.

House of Heroes

It’s been a while since we have checked in, so I thought we’d let you know a few things that we have going on here in House of Heroes world:

First and foremost, COLD HARD WANT came out a year ago today!!!  That is crazy to think about! Go give it a first anniversary listen today if you haven’t already ;) This means that we have officially fulfilled our contract with Gotee Records and for the first time in 8 or 9 years, we are an independent band!  That is crazy to think about. Time to get busy writing and get you guys some new music!!!

We are currently right in the middle of a post-Independence Day (For a Petty Thief) sale in our merch store! This week only, buy any t-shirt or tank top and get a Knock Down Drag Outs CD for FREE!!! You can also get a Cold Hard Want CD instead of KDDO. If that is what you want, just to to the “Contacts” section at the top of our merch store, and let us know that you’d rather have Cold Hard Want. And speaking of the merch store, we have exactly 9 Cold Hard Want vinyls left, so if you want one of those, you better stop your lollygagging!

Next, Tim and his wife, Stephanie (formerly Stephanie Smith, Gotee Records recording artist featured in the House of Heroes song, God Save the Foolish Kings) have started a band together (band name TBD)! They have a few shows booked in VA, and PA at the end of the month, and are looking to book a few more in the PA, OH, IN areas for July 30, 31, and August 1.  If you would like to see the new band (with a possible inclusion of Mr. Colin Rigsby himself playing some of his sweet acoustic jams), please hit up hohtour@gmail.com

Lastly, we have begun to take initial steps to print The End is Not the End on vinyl for the first time EVER!!!  It’s hard to believe that record came out 5 years ago, but I can’t think of a better 5 year anniversary celebration than to do a limited vinyl pressing for you guys!  We’ll keep you updated on how that is going.

Here are HOH dates coming up next month:

Anonymous asked: Are you guys back with Gotee?

We have fulfilled our contract with Gotee Records and will no longer be with the label.
